bittersweet

fashion musings. culinary adventures. things that put a smile on my face.
What a Wonderful World…
it is when you are in love. When you have someone you can ramble to before bed. When you can share the laugh while watching comedies. One who likes the video game you are crazy for. When you have someone to do just about anything.
The hope for it, or simply the joy from watching lovers go through their ups and downs, that keeps you going for chick-flicks. drama. romantic movies. whatever you call it. It’s been a while since I watched a good one. Lately the genre has lost its very soul, trying to hard to be funny, accommodating, current, but forgetting that people just wanna sit there, be blown by all those oh-so-sweet moments, tear at times, fall for the characters, and go home with a big smile on their faces.
This one is a good one. And it feels relieving to finally find an on-set couple with such a great chemistry (i dont care whether or not they are together in real life. they just look so good together in front of the camera). A comedy about “meeting each other halfway”, Going The Distance. Erin (Barrymore) is a journalistic summer intern in New York. Garrett (Long) works in music industry. They met over a video game in a bar. Predictably, they love the very same game. And the love starts from there.
But..she had to head back home just when they knew they fall for each other..
Would he go all the way and leave everything for her?
Would she, once again, sacrifice everything for someone whom she loves though she had only met for 6 weeks?
The movie is filled with witty lines. Which are refreshing. There are douche-bag friends of the guy, typical Hollywood movie. A bit vulgar, yes. Not so conventional wrap-up, I must say.
Its strongest charm is that almost anyone could relate to it. Long distance relationship, and the rocks in between. It makes you question; how far would you go for one you say you love so much? For one you say you can’t live without?
You answer :)
