I LEFT MY HEART IN MELBOURNE #4
It was chilly when we made breakfast and put on our sophisticated outfits for the day’s out of town agenda - Yarra Valley Winery Tour!
The van was only filled up with a couple, which later we knew were celebrating their wedding anniversary, and our deep-voiced charismatic tour leader, John.
Greens could be seen all around as we left the town. Houses in between farms; cows and horses were grazing. It has been an eye-pleasing drive an hour out of Melbourne when we got to our first stop - Domaine Chandon, which then I knew is affiliated to THE Louis Vuitton.
The vineyard was as long and wide as your eyes can possibly see, and in front of it is a beautiful see-through restaurant which allows you to sit, sip your red of white accompanied by bagel and cheese, while appreciating the picturesque area.
Never a fan of wine and I knew it since I was 13; so tasting up to 6 type of wines from the 6 wineries we dropped by that day was not my highlight of the day. I am probably worse than a lousy drinker, I fell asleep after the second winery and you know why *wink*
Which is maybe why the next wineries we went to was not as memorable..But I would rather think it is because Chandon was the most sophisticated of all! Mandala was another pretty one, younger and chic compared to the arrogant-looking Chandon. De Bortoli was apparently the most famous since its wine (and cheese too!) won a lot of awards.
The trip itself, was much more than what I have expected - breathtaking views, the chilly mountainous wind, the HUGE lunch, the picnic practically in the middle of huge green trees, and the companies, top it all up :) It must have been more than a winery tour - I saw kangaroos playing in a nature with merely a binocular, how rare is that!
9 hours and countless glass of wine later, we were home, and water had never tasted that good..
PS: Thanks to Wei Li for the great deal. AUD 70 well spent :)
