TRADEMARK - Bandung’s First Indoor Market

Tingles come to my tummy when Martha told me about a flea market by local designers which i would LOVE.

So I went, and the stylish vibe was apparent even before you entered the area as you see all the edgy youngsters (which I dont normally see in that particular mainstream shopping area) roaming around.

And that was barely the creme de la creme because the stalls inside, without any exaggerations, completely blew me away! How can you not stop, stare, and admire handmade leather/velvet boat shoes, affordable minimalistic a la Ikea house decos, organic paper bike jackets, and of course, tons and tons of bold clothing pieces!

There were several standout stalls, which look like they are almost out of stock by the amount of clothes they have left after only one and a half day of exhibition- Kidnapped Ally being one of them. It offers straightforward cuttings and designs, like square-shaped jumpsuits and basic tanks in neon colors.

The market, which receives very positive critics fro different classes of people; fashion activists to fashion customers, is an answer to people’s screaming to established mass-product labels with sky-high prices. The local designers are big in online promotion, and they are in the upper hand with their affordability and unique designs.

Overwhelmed by the Indonesian indigenous creativity, I could not help thinking that we have abundant potential hidden within those stylish-looking bodies. If they  start join forces and create one beautiful big picture, no one can say that fashion ain’t a way to go for economy boost.
